DeepHow CEO Sam Zheng featured in The Fabricator

This month, The Fabricator, an official publication of FABTECH, features DeepHow’s AI-powered training technology as its cover story. An in-depth article on AI Stephanie, the award winning knowledge transfer platform, highlights the challenges of the skills gap in manufacturing and the solutions founder Sam Zheng says are essential to employee success.

Zheng, and co-founders Wei Liang Kao and Patrik Matos, set out to create a video-centric training method that leverages artificial intelligence to improve human-machine interfaces. Zheng explains that the focus on automation on the factory floor neglects the human element of delivering know-how to today’s modern employees who are used to accessing smartphones and the Internet when they need to learn.

Improving how workers interact with machines results in better learning outcomes, and provides hundreds of data points to inform plant managers on employee progress. Bridging the skills gap isn’t just a technology mission; it’s also about the very human part of factory work.

Zheng’s background in engineering psychology is what led him and his team to seek out a solution to skilled trades training that incorporates how people learn, and what kind of content works best for employees. While automation is a crucial element of Industry 4.0, no amount of robotic technology will ever be enough. An educated workforce of employees who have the benefit of human-inspired AI training could be the missing piece of what’s needed for a truly “smart” factory. We’re delighted to see DeepHow featured in the top publication for the metal fabrication industry.
